Our Mission
SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners) of Butler
County is dedicated to promoting and providing the prompt, ethical, and
appropriate medico-legal examination and treatment of patients in cases of
reported sexual assault.

What is SANE ?
When a violent crime occurs, the victim's body is the scene of the crime.
SANE of Butler County's staff are trained to collect, preserve, and document
potential evidence in cases of reported sexual assault.
SANEs are Registered Nurses who have completed advanced training in the
specialty area of forensic medicine. SANE of Butler County is a private, non-profit (501c3) organization. We
provide a pool of trained Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs) who are on-call
to provide services in every hospital in Butler County.
SANE of Butler County is a collaborative initiative of the four Butler County
hospitals, including The Fort Hamilton Hospital, McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital,
Mercy Hospital Fairfield, and Middletown Regional Hospital, the Butler County
Rape Crisis Program, and local law enforcement agencies. The program
is staffed by on-call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, Executive Director
Terri Terrett, RN, and Medical Director William Rogers, MD, FACEP. A
volunteer Board of Trustees provides
direction and oversight for the organization.
